Ireland’s Greene Farm Foods missed out on a win in the product innovation contest at SIAL Paris this week but still secured major interest in their “super turkey burgers” through their nomination to such a prestigious award.
The Rathowen, Co. Westmeath, business used the big international food fair to promote their Jake & Louis range, which was launched in August and features two turkey burgers, one flavoured with spring onion and red pepper and the other with black pudding and cranberry.
Both products went down well with SIAL visitors, building on the back of the innovation focus.
“It was obviously exciting to be short-listed for the award at SIAL so early in the life of the new range,” said the company’s Fiona O’Shaughnessy. “Although we didn’t win, we’ve had a very good reaction to the new products, with a lot of people tasting them during the week.
“I believe we’re adding something really new to the category which hasn’t been available before, certainly not in the cooked, convenience sector.”
In addition to being well established in the Irish market, the company has exports going into the UK and Denmark, under the Greene Farm brand. The Jake & Louis range, meanwhile, has just secured its first listings in the UK.
