A UK-based update on dealing with avian influenza (AI) and a review of current global food industry issues and trends are the headline subjects which will be tackled during the 25th anniversary Conference and AGM of the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA).
Due to be held on November 23, 2016, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, the event will address AI concerns through a presentation by Livetec Systems’ director, Julian Sparrey, whose company develops equipment and procedures for the humane slaughter of livestock, particularly where this has to occur outside of a slaughterhouse.
This includes instances where bird slaughter is needed to control the outbreak of a notifiable disease or where the welfare of the animals has been compromised.
The global food review will be provided by Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, Dr David Hughes, with the conference also featuring presentations by egg farmer, restaurateur, food wholesaler and new Nuffield Scholar, Doug Wanstall, and market and business commentator, Justin Urquhart Stewart.
