Specialist poultry equipment company Chore-Time has added a rack-drive expulsion system to its breeder nests, Valego Center-Belt Nests, which move across nest pads for reliable and complete emptying.
The expulsion system’s design prevents birds from getting behind the expeller panel and gently pushes birds out of the nests and is also strong enough to eject any dead birds.
The wire mesh expeller requires less electrical power to operate that other systems, Chore-Time said. It allows full-space utilisation of the nest area and it is also designed to empty all nests simultaneously, without the need for torque adjustments.
A slight movement of the expeller also accompanies operation of the egg collection system, to protect the eggs while the collector is running. Egg collectors are available with a full range of drive units and variable speed motors to help manage egg collection. Collection units also include integrated egg tables to help manage collection and sorting. Conveyors and elevators are offered as well.
The nests, which are manufactured in The Netherlands by Volito, are designed for easy installation. They include an easy-to-open top to simplify maintenance and are available in a full range of models to suit any house size or configuration.
