MHP, the largest poultry producer in Ukraine, has revealed poultry production decreased by 11% to 170,395 tonnes in the first half of 2022, due to the effects of the Russian invasion.
War related challenges meant third party sales were down 23% during the same six month period ending 30 June 2022.
Since the beginning of the war on 24 February, the company has faced problems with logistics and infrastructure. Black Sea ports remain blocked and alternative routes of getting product out of the country and inputs in, are far more complex. The company said these included long queues at the border with EU countries, and problems with different railway gauges along the route in and out of the country.
Trade inside the country has also been hugely disrupted, partly due to the exodus of people fleeing the war.
Domestic sales were down 6% during the first half of the year, while poultry export sales were down 17%.
