Gressingham Game is to move production of its core lines from its Brompton site to its Gressingham Foods production site at Grange Farm Redgrave with immediate effect.
The firm purchased the Yorkshire Game site in Brompton on Swale in May 2018 and said it had a successful first season. “However, the complexity and logistical challenges of our suppliers and customer base combined with the highly seasonal nature of the business has proven too inefficient in a highly competitive marketplace to be viable as a stand-alone site,” said the company in a statement. “At the point of relocating production, the site employed 12 permeant staff, of which 10 have already found new roles in the local area and we are working with local recruiters to support the remainder.”
Gressingham Game will continue to operate and trade from the Gressingham Foods Norfolk site with it’s focus being on the core, established products which include venison steaks and burgers and wild boar burgers.
A new Gressingham website will be launched in September to promote its expanding duck, game and speciality poultry portfolio and ranges. The website will provide inspiration by championing over 200 different recipes. The website will provide a base for a digital advertising campaign in the autumn and the new year.
“We are confident that the move will mean we can better serve our customers and provide a fantastic base for making duck and game more accessible to consumers,” said a spokesman.
