Fire has destroyed a building at the headquarters of Ready Egg, which packs shell egg, processes liquid egg and produces hard boiled eggs, egg mayonnaise and scrambled egg.
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) was called to the fire in Lisnaskea on 7 October and spent eight hours tackling the blaze. A spokesman for NIFRS said: “Firefighters were called to a fire at a large derelict shed at an industrial food factory. At the height of the incident 10 fire appliances including a high volume pumping appliance, two aerial appliances & a water tanker were in attendance. Firefighters used three jets to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is accidental ignition.”
A spokesperson for Ready Egg told the BBC staff “were evacuated swiftly to safety. Due to the efforts of the NIFRS the main production facility was not affected, and production has now recommenced”.
