The animal nutrition company, BIOMIN, has announced a streamlining of a number of products within its phytogenic feed additive (PFA) portfolio (Digestarom).
The move is designed to focus the company’s PFA product development and research efforts more on major livestock species, especially poultry, pigs and cattle, than was previously possible.
“We have seen a great deal of interest from integrators, producers and feed millers worldwide who are interested in a focused way to improve feed efficiency, particularly given the competitive global market,” said BIOMIN’s global product manager for phytogenics, Michael Noonan (pictured above).
The company believes its decision will generate efficiencies, allowing it to devote further attention, R&D effort and service to the application of PFAs to the major livestock species.
The phytogenic feed additive market has already topped $500 million (£375M) in annual sales with the move away from antibiotic growth promoters, and subsequent uptake of novel growth promoters, seen as heralding a considerable “boost” of demand for PFAs in the future.
According to BIOMIN, the application of select PFAs offers a number of benefits to livestock producers, including enhanced animal performance, better feed digestibility, improved feed efficiency and reduced emissions.
