ADAS and Defra are inviting dairy, beef, laying hens, sheep, and pig farmers to take part in a Defra-funded survey on animal welfare standards.
Views gathered will be used to develop a future Defra funded payment-by-results scheme to reward farmers for achieving better standards of animal welfare on farm.
The survey asks farmers to consider a range of options aimed at delivering welfare improvements specific to their main farming enterprise. The survey will ask farmers to consider different scheme formats and payment prices offered.
This will help Defra understand the best and most practical options. The options could be an action to take (such as reducing stocking density) or a final outcome (reduced mortality), or a combination of both.
Participation in this survey is voluntary and all participants are free to withdraw at any time during or after responses are submitted. The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed HERE.
All responses and data will be stored securely by ADAS and Qa Research and anonymised to remove any details that could identify you or your farm.
Sheep farmers Ashley and Anne Jelly who have already taken part, said: “This is a really important opportunity for all livestock farmers to feed into a future payment scheme for animal welfare so don’t miss this chance to take part and have your say.”
