Fundraising by L J Fairburn & Son for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance has reached new heights, with the local family egg company confirming £16,000 has been raised for the charity.
Last week two members of the Alford-based team paid a visit to the charity’s airbase to share the good news and find out more about their life-saving work across Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire.
Fairburn’s Lynette Fleeting and Tabby Ward met with the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance’s medical crew and fundraising team, where they got a sneak peek behind the scenes of the emergency service that responds to some of the most serious 999 calls across the two counties each year. They also got to jump aboard the Ambucopter whilst on the ground at RAF Waddington.
Fairburn’s donates 1p from every dozen of its regional eggs sold across Lincolnshire Morrisons, Asda and Co-op stores to Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and since the initiative started in 2013, £16,000 has been raised. Funds are set to be boosted further with a new Fairburn’s 15 egg mixed weight pack that has just gone on sale in Lincolnshire Morrisons which will also raise money for the charity.
The crew at Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance are called out to around 1,000 medical emergencies each year, including road traffic accidents, cardiac arrests and farming accidents, with each mission costing the charity approximately £2,500.
