The British Egg Industry Council has announced the appointment of Nick Allen as chief executive, effective 7 April 2025. Allen will take over from acting chief executive Mark Williams, who will resume his role as chairman when Allen takes up the post.
Prior to joining the BEIC, Allen was chief executive of Berry Gardens, having previously served as the finance and operations director and, before that, as the finance director. Allen led the sale of Berry Gardens to Driscoll’s in October 2022 and subsequently managed the integration process as UK general manager.
“We are delighted that Nick is coming on board at the BEIC,” said Williams. “His extensive background and strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to represent the best interests of our members and ensure the British Lion Code remains the envy of egg producers around the world. We are confident that under his leadership, the British Egg Industry Council will go from strength to strength.”
“I’m very excited to take on this new role,” said Allen. “It is clear to me that the industry is committed to its world-leading farm assurance scheme. I hope that my passion for UK food and farming together with my expertise in the sector can bring a new perspective and futureproof British Lion eggs for the industry and its customers.”
