Avara Foods at Hortonwood Industrial Estate recently held a site Christmas Food Bank Appeal, seeking donations for Telford Crisis Support. Telford Crisis Support, based at Sutton Hill, is a charity serving people in the Telford and Wrekin areas, running a food bank since 2013 providing emergency food, toiletries and clothing to those most in need.
Avara ran the food bank appeal as a festive charity campaign, asking colleagues to come together to help those experiencing hardship in the local area over Christmas. As well as the colleague contributions, the company itself donated 100 packs of fresh chicken fillet for the charity to distribute.
“We’re always grateful to individuals and local businesses who support our important work,” commented Ollie Locker, Operations Manager at Telford Crisis Support. “Christmas can be a difficult for time for some families, and donations to our food bank allows us to take some of the pressure off those in challenging circumstances.”
“I’m delighted our colleagues got behind this great initiative,” said Graham Clempner, site manager at Avara Foods in Telford. “Telford Crisis Support does fantastic work in our area and we were pleased to help with a festive food bank appeal. Tackling food poverty is an issue that’s close to all our hearts, so it seemed only right to complement what the team donated with our own products. We’re proud to be part of the Telford community and make a difference, especially at this time of year.”
