Poultry sector specialists from Tesco, Sainsbury’s and the Co-op will be available to take questions from producers during next week’s British Pig & Poultry Fair, courtesy of their participation in the National Farmers Union (NFU) programme for the event.
The union stand will also be the venue for a business forum each day (May 10 & 11) chaired by NFU chief poultry adviser, Gary Ford, under the heading “Outlook for Poultry and Eggs: Planning ahead for your business?
The forum is billed as a chance for producers to “get the low down from industry experts on their predictions for the challenges and opportunities ahead for poultry meat and eggs”. Held at 10am each day, the forum is free and open to all visitors.
The supermarket sessions are as follows:
- May 10 – 11am: Meet the Co-op’s poultry agriculture manager, Catherine Bennett.
- May 10 – 12 noon: Meet Sainsbury’s agriculture managers, Chris Manley and Jake Pickering.
- May 11 – 10am: Meet Tesco’s agriculture manager for poultry, John Kirkpatrick.
In addition, the NFU’s full poultry team will be on the stand throughout the two days while NFU poultry board chairman, Duncan Priestner, will be available to meet producers between 3.30 and 5.00pm on Tuesday, May 10.
The Fair will be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.
