AHDB chairman, Sir Peter Kendall, and UKIP MEP, Stuart Agnew, are set to lead a Brexit debate at next week’s British Pig & Poultry Fair.
“The EU referendum clearly has enormous ramifications for the farming industry, and it’s essential that producers are well informed about both sides of the argument,” said Fair organiser, Alice Bell.
“A lot of debates so far have centred on farming subsidies, but as neither the pig nor poultry industries receive such payments it will be interesting to debate the wider implications for both sides of the vote.”
Chaired by BBC Farming Today presenter Charlotte Smith, the debate will take place on May 11, led by Sir Peter and Mr Agnew with additional contributions from “a number of top farmers and industry leaders”.
The Fair will be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire on May 10 and 11.
