Harper Adams has been named Modern University of the Year in the latest Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide.
The university, which has close links with the poultry industry, was also 36th in the Times’ overall rankings of all universities, the highest ever placing for a post-1992 institution and up from 49th in 2015.
“We are thrilled to have been awarded the title of Modern University of the Year,” said Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn.
“We have, once again, significantly improved our league table position over last year, based on a lot of hard work by our staff and students and a determined focus on the quality of the education that we provide in our academic community.
“In addition to thanking everyone at the university for their roles in this outcome, I would like to say how grateful we are to our many supporters in industry.”
Harper Adams is the focus of the British Poultry Council Scholarship scheme which the BPC runs in association with a number of leading companies to encourage young people into the poultry sector.
Worth £4,500 to successful scholars, the scheme includes a placement year with the awarding company with each scholarship being given on a competitive basis, evaluated on the merit of the applicant and his/her application and interview.
The application deadline for this year’s intake is 9am on November 7, with the application list due to open on October 27.
