Successful Harper Adams University graduate, Lauren Turner, has urged any new student who may be contemplating taking an agriculture or food production course at the Shrophire site, to apply for an industry-backed placement year, highlighting the in-depth experience which is on offer.
Ms Turner spent her placement year with the international feed company, ForFarmers, who have already said they will be attending this year’s Harper Adams Scholarship Fair on October 27.
“I was able to develop my understanding of the industry working within the company’s pig, poultry and speciality division,” she said. “I also had the opportunity to work alongside a team of people who are experts in their fields, travelling to the head office in Lochem, the Netherlands, as well as to farms across North West Europe.
“ForFarmers continued to support my education in my final year and then offered me a full-time job once I had graduated. I would encourage anyone to apply for this placement year, as working for Europe’s largest total feed company offers unrivalled opportunities.”
Placement applications must be handed to the Development Trust at Harper Adams by 9am on November 7, after which successful candidates will be interviewed by company representatives.
