East Sussex farmer, Susie Macmillan, has been given a special award by the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA) in recognition of her work on public engagement for the free range egg sector.
Ms Macmillan, from The Macs Farm in Ditchling, was named as Free Range Champion 2016 during the Association’s annual awards event in Birmingham.
“Susie has gone above and beyond for the free range egg industry and we wanted to acknowledge her unique and brilliant work,” said BFREPA chairman, James Baxter.
Along with her family, Ms MacMillan was acclaimed for working with animal rights organisations to demonstrate and educate on standards of laying hen welfare.
She was also acknowledged for supporting an egg farm project in Uganda through the Watoto charity, which helps to feed 3,000 children and adults.
