Avara Foods participated in this year’s Open Farm Sunday initiative, run by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming).
The poultry integrator supported three farms in opening their gates to visitors; one in Herefordshire, one in Derbyshire and another in Bedfordshire.
Visitors had the chance to see the rearing environments, learn how Avara breeds and cares for its birds and even handle chicks. Farm tours, machinery demonstrations and poultry product samples were offered.
Avara Foods colleagues from different aspects of the business were on hand to help answer questions about the supply chain, rearing processes, consumer demand, agricultural practice and more. Partners and other suppliers from the process were also demonstrating their involvement in modern farming with display stands and presentations.
“I’m delighted Avara took part in Open Farm Sunday 2019,” commented John Reed, Agriculture Director at Avara Foods. “We’re proud of our farms and the standards we keep, so this is a great opportunity to be transparent and educate consumers about where food comes from. Most importantly, we want consumers to have complete faith in British farming and the quality of the products they eat.”
