The Home Office has asked businesses who employ EU nationals to share information published on a new website with their staff relating to procedures following Brexit.
There are three simple messages the Home Office is asking employers to share with their staff who are EU nationals:
- You will be able to stay if you are in the UK when the UK leaves the EU;
- Close family members will be able to join you; and
- It will be easy and inexpensive to apply for settled status and a streamlined process will open during the second half of 2018.
There is a website with further information https://eucitizensrights.campaign.gov.uk/ and interested parties can sign up for regular official email updates on citizens’ rights.
The NFU said it would continue to work with the Home Office to keep up to date with the latest information on citizens’ rights and to ensure EU nationals working in food and farming are aware of what they need to do to secure their rights.
