Egg sales grew by 10% over Christmas, new data covering the four weeks to 24 December from Kantar shows, . The UK’s biggest egg company, Noble Foods, said the year-on-year uplift was due to collaboration of the whole supply chain.
“As evidenced by new market data, it’s promising to see the egg category beginning to gain volume recovery following a sustained period of supply challenges,” said a company spokesman. “Retail sales volume for eggs at Christmas were +10.3% (+52.3k individual eggs) in the four weeks to 24 Dec. That’s testament to the hard work and commitment of the producer base, and with positive collaboration with retailers and across the whole supply”.
The increase is a positive milestone for the egg category, which has faced significant challenges over the past 18 months due to soaring inflation, increased energy bills and the threat of avian influenza.
