A new digital platform is aiming to help optimise performance in poultry production, by focussing on health and sustainability.
The platform is a joint project by two companies, dsm-firmenich, the health and nutrition firm, , and Agrifirm, an agricultural cooperative.
The project has brought together dsm-firmenich’s life cycle assessment (LCA) platform, Sustell and Agrifirm’s PoultryNEXT, a data platform for poultry production performance insights.
Sustell captures specific feed and farm data, enabling users to accurately monitor their full environmental footprint and understand where and how to make improvements.
PoultryNEXT combines performance tools with flock management, animal production and nutritional knowledge. The tool can monitor precise data that accurately tracks production performance.
A pilot will now be rolled out with Agrifirm partner farms, utilising PoultryNEXT with sustainability insights provided by Sustell. The service will give farmers access to sustainability insights such as a farm’s environmental footprint to support responsible production performance.
David Nickell, vice president of sustainability & business solutions at dsm-firmenich, animal nutrition & health said: “There are genuine opportunities for improvements in efficiency, sustainability and animal health, and these are often interrelated. Connecting Sustell to Agrifirm’s industry leading PoultryNEXT is the key to unlocking the value of sustainability for Agrifirm farmers and chain partners.”
