Cobb Sweden recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a fact-finding visit to the US for the company’s senior executives, who toured Cobb-Vantress and parent company Tyson Foods in Arkansas.
Cobb Sweden chief executive, Torbjorn Persson, and Blenta Group chief executive, Jan Pettersson, led the three-day tour of Cobb headquarters, farm and feed mill locations and Tyson Foods farms, hatchery, processing, as well as the Tyson Foods Discovery Center research facility. They also met innovation and product development representatives from Walmart and a regional grocery store chain.
“The Swedish industry is looking at moving to a bigger bird of 1.95-2.10kg and opportunities for developing the market through further processing,” said Mr Pettersson.
Mr Persson added: “It is important to see how the US market differs from that in Europe, and the visit has shown us new processing opportunities.
“I’m sure, in return, the meetings also enabled our hosts to learn about the market situation in our region and our focus on antibiotic-free production and European standards over many years.”
