The breeding company, Aviagen, has expanded the reach of its Ross broiler strain into Sicily through an investment by its customer, AVISP, in new facilities, including a rearing farm and two laying houses.
“Placing a Ross flock in Sicily for the first time is an important and exciting milestone for Aviagen Italia, AVISP and the Ross brand,” said Aviagen Italia’s general manager, Claudio Ambrogio.
“This new chapter in AVISP’s history will help the company with aspects of their planning, biosecurity and management.”
AVISP owner, Michele Leocata, commented: “We won’t stop here as we have ambitious goals for the future and having the first Ross flock in Sicily is only the starting point.”
