Gafoor Pure Halal has recorded a increase in full year sales and profits in its newly published latest strategic report, which covers the year ending 30 November 2019. The company specialises in farming, processing and distributing Red Tractor certified and halal certified poultry products.
Sales during the year rose 3.7% to £106.5 million, while profits before tax rose 24% to £3.6 million. The company said the increase in turnover had been achieved through new customers leading to more birds being processed. Profits had grown thanks to increased efficiencies in the business.
The company has also increased its number of employees over the year, the report states.
During 2019, Gafoor invested in several developmental projects designed to increase efficiency and mitigate meat loss during processing. The company has also been involved in R&D projects to develop recyclable packaging that is strong and moisture resistant, and separately to develop a feather dehydration system.
In the coming year, the company plans to invest in more refrigeration equipment, chain, track and shackles in order to further improve efficiency.
