Faccenda Foods and Dartmouth Foods are to combine their cooked poultry operations with a £10 million joint-venture facility due to be built in Plymouth to accommodate their expanded ambitions.
The new partnership will focus on the duck market to begin with, expanding into chicken and turkey products in due course.
“This partnership will provide both parties with real opportunities for growth,” said Dartmouth Foods’ joint managing director, Nick Obolensky. “Being able to deliver products through a short supply chain is a huge advantage and gives us the security and capacity to provide a unique range of cooked British poultry that our customers will like and consumers will enjoy.”
Faccenda Foods’ managing director, Andy Dawkins, added: “A significant proportion of the duck market is in cooked products and the team at Dartmouth Foods are great at what they do, so working closely and integrating the cooked operation into the supply chain makes perfect sense.
“We believe that consumers will love the quality and taste of our duck and this partnership will enable more of them to try it.”
Faccenda delivers fresh and convenience food solutions to the UK retail and food service sectors every day, generating an annual turnover of more than £500m.
Dartmouth Foods is a second generation family business, employing 150 people in Devon, and specialising in the supply of cooked poultry and fish products to the British sandwich and retail market.
