Global airline catering business gategroup has committed to switching all the shell eggs, liquid eggs and other egg products to suppliers that use cage-free systems, either barn or free-range.
The business is based in Switzerland, and works in 60 counties. It has the most extensive catering network in the aviation industry.
Gategroup currently has around 75% eggs meeting the required standard. However, it is now working on what it called the “final challenge” of working in regions with supplier base where this isn’t currently feasible.
“This is an important step for making gategroup a more transparent, sustainable company,” said Francisco Moreno, gategroup’s chief operations officer.
