Aldi is to introduce new packaging on fresh chicken from 30 October, highlighting its shift to lower stocking density.
In July, the retailer announced it would switch to 30kg stocking density for its broilers, down from 38kg per square metre. From next week, its packaging will reflect the change.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “Animal welfare is of paramount importance to us, and we’ve been working hard with our suppliers to reduce stocking density to help us improve the welfare conditions for chickens.”
