Cobb has reported a decrease in turnover in the year to 30 September 2023, following a difficult year in which avian influenza outbreaks reduced international trade.
The genetics business reported sales of £17.9m over the year, down from £25.05m the previous year. The company recorded a loss for the financial year of £8.8m. However, this was an improvement on the previous year, when the loss was £13.1m.

The reduction in turnover was primarily due to outbreaks of avian influenza over the course of the year, which restricted the ability of the company to export products to customers within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
“The company continues to engage with government authorities in customers’ countries to promote the benefits of compartmentalisation to protect supply routes,” the directors’ report states.
