Meanwhile profit after tax was £3.1 million during the period, compared to a loss of £1.7 million during the previous year.
Trading conditions were much improved on the previous year, the company’s directors said, with demand for eggs exceeding supply.
This was the first full year of the company operating its new bed and breakfast scheme, which was well received by producers, the firm said. It also launched a new brand, Fairburns Famous, which it intends to continue to grow.
In the previous financial year, the company suffered an outbreak of avian influenza, and the directors thanked the company’s retail customers for their support during the period.
