Maelor Foods has reported annual sales of £179.9 million for the year ending 31 July 2022, an increase on the previous year from £188.8 million.
During the same period, the company reported profit before tax of £2.1 million, less than half that of the previous year, when pre-tax profits were £4.7 million.
The war in Ukraine has led to significant inflation in the price of key agricultural inputs, which contributed to tighter margins. The increase in sales was attributed to the consent Maelor Foods received last May to increase production to one million birds per week. The directors of the company said given these factors, the results were in line with expectations.
