After three years away during which time the meat and poultry processing sector has experienced many challenges, the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS) has announced its annual conference will take place in person this year on 1 October. It will be held at the Edgbaston Park Hotel, Birmingham.
The conference will be chaired by Tim Rycroft, chief executive of the AHDB. He will also speak on the topic ‘Shape the Future’.
Other speakers include Professor Chris Elliott of Queen’s University, Belfast and Philip Hambling, the NFU’s director of farming and food.
A Defra Minister has also been invited to address the conference.
Norman Bagley, head of policy at AIMS, said he was delighted that Mykola Babenko, chief executive of the Meat Industry Association of Ukraine, would be addressing the conference live from Kyiv to give an insight into the impact of the war on meat processing.
Delegates will be invited to pose questions to a speaker panel which will be hosted by AIMS Chair, John Thorley.
“Ticket sales are now open via Eventbrite,” said Bagley, “and we expect to have a large audience keen to hear from and to question our highly respected speakers.” Tickets include a free pre-conference dinner, held the night before.
