The Gressingham Group has announced the acquisition of third-generation business, Peter Thompson.
The Peter Thompson Group, which has annual sales of over £44 million, is a poultry specialist selling a wide variety of chicken cuts, as well as beef and pork from its market shop that has been situated in the historical Smithfield Market, London since 1954.
It also operates a thriving B2B wholesale business, supplying poultry cuts to retailers and hospitality groups in both the United Kingdom and Europe.
The business will work closely with JF Edwards, which was purchased four years ago by The Gressingham Group, and is well established on Smithfield Market.
Stuart Thompson, whilst still involved in the business, will step down as managing director after 40 years at the helm. Stephen Barber will manage the two businesses.
William Buchanan, group director at Gressingham Foods, said: “We are delighted to bring The Peter Thompson Group under the Gressingham Foods umbrella.
“Peter Thompson Group has an excellent reputation and this purchase complements our existing presence in Smithfield Market.”
