This programme is made up of a series of events which give participants the opportunity to gain valuable insight into different aspects of British poultry meat and egg production and network with other young people in the industry.
Tom Glen, NFU Poultry Adviser, said: “It is important to engage and encourage the next generation and the NFU’s Poultry Industry Programme aims to inspire those already working within the sector to become future leaders.”
The programme is made up of a series of events lasting for one to two days over a period of approximately 12 months. The next programme will start in autumn 2022.
Event topics range from improving market insight to learning about new skills and cutting-edge technologies used in the industry. Most events occur within the UK with one trip to Europe to look at the similarities and differences in poultry production with a focus on consumer engagement.
The programme is open to 20-35-year-olds who are active in the poultry industry in England or Wales. Applicants must be a member of (or employed by a member of) the NFU or NFU Cymru.
To apply for the programme, email your CV and a short covering letter including your (or your employer’s) NFU membership number to Tom Glen at Tom.Glen@nfu.org.uk.
Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to attend an interview in early summer. Applications close on 15 May 2022.
