A £2,000 training grant is up for grabs for a newcomer to the poultry industry. The prize is being offered by Zoetis and the NFU in its annual Poultry Trainee Award.
Now in its 15th year, the prize aims to highlight the opportunities for career progress in a dynamic industry and provides rewards for all finalists including guest invites to the NFU annual conference in Birmingham.
The award covers all sections of the poultry meat, eggs and game sector and for the past two years it has been won by employees in the egg industry – most recently Harriet Smith who provides advice on nutrition for customers of Crediton Milling.
There is no age limit – the award has been won several times by entrants turning to poultry as a second career – but entries must be received by October 31. The focus is on how training helps to enhance skills and provide the basis for career development as well as contributing to animal welfare.
