Thousands of broilers at a farm in Lincolnshire have died from the effects of extreme heat during last week’s heatwave.
The birds died last Thursday after temperatures reached 39C heat at Moy Park farm in Newton on Trent, Lincolnshire.
According to local reports, workers were seen removing the birds in wheelbarrows.
A spokesperson for Moy Park said: “The recent high temperatures have been very challenging for many in the farming and poultry industries. We are working closely with our farming partners to monitor the situation and have implemented procedures to help protect our birds against the extreme heat.”
