The first ever ‘Facetime A Farmer’ has taken place between a UK poultry producer, a major UK retailer and 20 excited primary school children, to help them learn about how to look after chickens and what is involved in poultry farming.
2 Sisters Food Group and the Co-op came together to deliver an interactive learning experience for the children at The Prince of Wales primary school based in Dorset, where the children, aged five and six years old, were able to communicate with Chris Chater, general manager of Hook2Sisters, via video link.
Joe Geraghty, agriculture account manager, said: “The children asked Chris lots of questions. It was a great way of bringing the countryside to the classroom as the children were really engaged and enthusiastic to learn about farming and looking after chickens.
“In 2019 2SFG and the Co-op are planning to do more ‘Facetime A Farmer’ events in schools across different age ranges.”
