Mark Williams has been re-elected President of the EU Civil Dialogue Group on Poultry and Eggs. His second term began in November 2017.
Williams, who is also Secretary-General of EUWEP and Chief Executive of the British Egg Industry Council, will hold the post for a further year.
Williams said: “The poultry and egg sector is a hugely important sector of agriculture but, because it is unsupported, is often overlooked in favour of the more high-profile agricultural sectors. We will continue to work hard to ensure that the sector remains well-represented at EU level and is also well-prepared to act collectively in the event of further issues such as Avian Influenza.”
Civil Dialogue Groups were set up by the European Commission to assist it in holding regular dialogue on matters pertaining to the common agricultural policy, including its implementation. The Egg and Poultry CDG falls under the Animal Products CDG, one of the 13 advisory groups set up.
