European health commissioner, Vytenis Andriukaitis, has announced plans for an emergency meeting of EU ministers over the contaminated eggs issue which has dominated news headlines throughout the week, especially who is most at fault for the problem.
Commissioner Andriukaitis (pictured above) also said he wanted the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to stop trading accusations about who is responsible for the issue.
Adding that ‘blaming and shaming’ will get the countries ‘nowhere’, he said that the priority now is to manage the situation, gather information, focus on the analysis and learn the lessons than need to be learned.
In addition to involving EU ministers, the planned meeting is also expected to include food safety representatives.
