Irish based poultry manure to energy technology specialist, BHSL, has signed a co-operation agreement with draperVENT, one of the UK’s leading experts in poultry house heating and ventilation, to market, install and operate its’ range of Fluidised Bed Combustion machines in the UK.
BHSL has led the way in the development, installation and operation of poultry manure combustion systems since installing the first machine at Uphouse Farm, Norfolk in 2011. The business has been instrumental in the development and commercial roll-out of this technology following the introduction of EU Regulation 592/2014 in 2014 which permitted, under specific conditions, the on-farm combustion of untreated poultry manure to generate sustainable on-farm heat. In the past 12 months BHSL has installed over £11 million value of plant in the UK to a variety of broiler and layer installations.
draperVENT, with headquarters in Dorset, is a recognised specialist in the design, supply, installation and operation of sophisticated ventilation and climate control systems for the UK poultry sector. Through its sister company, draperHEAT, multiple poultry house heating installations have been successfully carried out in recent years with various technologies including LPG, wood pellet and chip, waste wood, straw and most recently poultry manure. draperVENT first worked alongside BHSL when they supplied their AVICARE HW System in the poultry sheds at Uphouse Farm, Norfolk in 2011.
Commenting on the agreement Adrian Walker, Sales Director for BHSL in the UK and Western Europe, said, “We are delighted to have joined forces with Paul and his team. The combination of our joint expertise in manure to heat technology and draperVENT’s well respected know-how in ventilation and climate control systems makes for a very compelling proposition to any poultry farmer with an interest in energy cost management.”
Paul Draper, Managing Director of draperGROUP, also added: “This agreement is the latest in a series of strategically important technology relationships we have signed recently. We are excited to be working alongside BHSL and to be in the trusted position to bring this fantastic technology to market. We believe the benefit of abundant ‘on-farm’ free heating fuel is a proposition that our clients will find extremely compelling – especially so with the newly launched 500kW containerised heating modules.”
