Applications for 2018 Nuffield Farming Scholarships are now being accepted, with around 20 places up for grabs. Successful candidates will have access to a £7,000 bursary and a network of scholars around the world.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships enable those chosen to explore topics of their own choice in agriculture, land management, horticulture or the food chain. They are dedicated to developing leadership in farming and the rural industries, and are recognised for the opportunities they provide to identify new knowledge and to apply it to practical and profitable industry outputs.
Funded by the agriculture and food industry, charities and trusts with agricultural objectives and past Scholars themselves, the Trust presents around 20 awards each year. The Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust (NFST) was established in 1947 and has globally awarded over 1,600 individuals in agricultural and associated industries the chance to travel and study. The organisation said the scholarships have shaped careers, businesses and industries by adding considerable value to research and development in respective sectors.
The deadline for applications is 31 July. No formal or academic qualifications are prerequisite for a Nuffield Scholarship, but all applicants must be aged between 22 and 45 years old and have been involved in farming, food, horticulture, rural or related industries for at least two years.
