Lincolnshire husband and wife team, Paul and Shelley Traves, has been named egg producer of the year (16,000 birds and under) by the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA) at today’s annual awards event in Birmingham.
Located at Croft Farm near Skegness, the family team was acclaimed by the award judges for showing “absolute passion” for their flock.
“Paul and Shelley’s results have been consistently excellent and their attention to detail, particularly around the welfare of their birds is constant,” said BFREPA judge and free range egg producer, Trevor Sellers.
“Their continuous hard work and dedication to their hens resulted in achieving 340 eggs per bird with their last flock.
“Their budding carpenter son Joe also gets in on the act by building the poshest shelters for the range.”
The family team supplies eggs to LJ Fairburn & Son, are involved in local Sainsbury’s egg development meetings and host retailer visits to the farm.
