Two high profile poultry sector studies are to be undertaken in 2017 by successful Nuffield scholarship applicants James Corbett, Wiltshire, and Daniel Roberts, Northamptonshire.
The two are included in the listing of 19 new Nuffield scholars, an acknowledgement which carries significant financial backing to fund their global travel costs for at least eight weeks to investigate their topics and explore international practices in relation to their selected subjects.
James Corbett’s chosen project is: ‘What is the future of colony and caged egg production?’ His Nuffield application was sponsored by The BEMB Trust.
Daniel Roberts will investigate: ‘Avian Influenza: How can we reduce the risk?’ His study is jointly sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Farmers and Savills, along with The Poultry Meat Group: Aviagen, Cobb Europe, Hubbard.
“As always the calibre of applicants was extremely high this year, making the selection process very difficult,” said Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust director, Mike Vacher (pictured above). “I’m confident, therefore, that we’ve selected candidates that are passionate about their subject, will rise to the challenge and shape the future of farming.”
