RSPCA Assured – the RSPCA’s food label and farm assurance scheme – is launching a new TV advert to encourage people to choose a higher welfare turkey this Christmas.
It comes after the British Poultry Council (BPC) reported last week that there was an increasing demand for turkeys ahead of the festive season this year, as more people will be celebrating at home due to COVID restrictions on foreign travel.
The 20-second ad features a typical RSPCA Assured certified free-range turkey farm decked in fairy lights.
Made by 2S Films, it will air between 5-13 December, with a prime spot during the first episode of Jamie Oliver’s Christmas special, Keep Cooking At Christmas (Channel 4, on Sunday 6 December). It will also be shown across Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Food Network, More4, Eden and Home.
Xenia Kingsley, the charity’s marketing manager, said: “With the demand for turkeys being particularly high this year, we hope our latest ad will persuade more people to think about animal welfare before they buy this Christmas.
